The
Daffodil Cup is awarded annually to the High School Football Team with the best
record among the schools that participate in the Daffodil Princess selection
program in Pierce County. The awarding of the “Cup” is based on the season
statistics and the GPA of the varsity football team. Awarding of the Daff
Cup was instituted in 1998 as a way to expand the participating High Schools
involvement in the Daffodil Festival.
The recipient of
the Daff Cup is determined by
combining the teams win-loss record percentage plus their fall
quarter GPA percentage. The team receiving the highest score is the
awarded the Cup.
The Daffodil Cup is an
imposing artifact that is 2 ˝ feet tall with beautiful combinations of brass and
black on a walnut stand. The team name is engraved on the brass plate on the
base of the cup. The Cup is a revolving cup, traveling from school to school,
with the wining school also receiving a plaque to keep for their trophy case at
the end of the year.
