Position AvailableDirector of Funding & Public Affairs (DFPA) 

The Daffodilians Inc., dba as the Daffodil Festival is a non profit charitable organization whose mission is:

  • To organize an annual festival, to include a Royalty program for the youth of the area.  The Royalty will be recipients of educational scholarships from the Daffodil Foundation.
     
  • To promote the Royalty as Ambassadors of Good Will.  This will be a civic endeavor in which they can display their talents, abilities and enthusiasm through Festival events.
     
  • To welcome and host dignitaries and guests from other area festivals.
     
  • To attract regional and national attention to the Pierce County and Puyallup Valley area, thus stimulating the economy.

The Director of Funding & Public Affairs is responsible for the implementation of policies and programs as established by the Board of Directors.  The primary goals are to coordinate all fund raising activities, build the Festival into a prominent event and to increase the appreciation of the benefits of the Festival among Pierce County residents, other local communities and the state.  

The candidate must posses the qualities of an entrepreneurial leader and be able to advance the goals of the Daffodil Festival. The DFPA will be the primary representative contact between the communities and the festival and will work from the Daffodil Festival Office. This position reports to a volunteer Board of Directors. 

Qualifications: 

  • Self-starter, imaginative, well organized and capable of functioning effectively in an independent environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experienced with Microsoft products.
  • Experienced in marketing, public relations and fundraising.
  • Knowledge of Grant Writing.
  • Must be well organized, detail oriented and capable of managing several projects at the same time.

 Responsibilities and Duties: (will include those listed but not limited to) 

Coordinate:  all fundraising activities which shall include:

  • Responsibility for developing corporate funding from premier sponsors.
  • Writing grant applications for A 501(c) (3) tax exempt organization.                        
  • Responsible for any other sponsorship or fundraising activity as assigned by the Board of Directors.

Assist and implement promotional programs that will develop local and national public image.  The programs are to be approved by the Board of Directors.

Create and maintain a marketing strategy whereby the Festival financial base will be sustained and expanded.

Act as liaison between the Festival and the public and pursue networking opportunities with other organizations and the Daffodil Festival.  Represent the Festival at local city, county and regional events as approved by the Board of Directors.   

Attend all Board of Directors meetings, general membership meetings, act as an ex-officio member of all committees, assist and advise committee members and the Board of Directors.

Perform additional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned and agreed upon with the Board of Directors.   

Salary Range:  starting from $30,000 – with advancement up to $60,000 per year, dependant on experience and qualifications.
