The Daffodil Festival Royalty Program

2006 Royal Court
Beginning in 2008 the Daffodil
Royal Court will expand to a total of 23 with the addition of Cascade Christian
into the Royalty program. Each young lady is a senior from one of the 23 participating Pierce
County High Schools. The Princesses vie for various educational scholarships and for
the title "Queen of the
Daffodil Festival". Princesses are Festival representatives to
community organizations throughout the Festival season. The Daffodil Queen and
members of her
Royal Court also represent the communities of Pierce County as they travel to more than 20
out of town festivals throughout the Pacific Northwest. A Queen Mother,
assisted by Chaperones, is in charge of the visitation program and
escort the girls to and from appearances and out of town festival events.

2005 Royal Court
Starting in September, preparation is begun, involving hundreds of
individuals for the selection of the Royal Court. Each of the schools involved
hold Princess selections with a public invited program involving much of the school
student body. After each Princess selection a reception is hosted by by the
Daffodilians.
Once the Court is selected the Princesses begin to
prepare for the Princess Promenade and Queen's Coronation. Their schedule is hectic, but
exciting.
Coronation night is an important and exciting event for the Princesses. Judges,
chosen several months in advance, will observe the Queen candidates to ensure the
selection is based on more than just one night's appearance. Candidates are judged
on their Academic Standing, Personality, Attitude, Speaking Ability, Appearance,
Sociability, Content of their Speech, Festival Awareness and Impromptu Speaking.
